Rule #1: Stop smoking. If you have this deeply rooted habit, let me tell you it works against rejuvenation. I advise you to seek professional help to quit smoking, as it is the main cause of aging.
Rule #2: Make exercise a habit. Exercise definitely rejuvenates. You should include cardio that speeds up your metabolism to rejuvenate your skin, and weights to avoid losing muscle and bone. If necessary, find an instructor to guide you.
Rule #3: Get enough sleep. Sleep is for the body to repair itself and fill up with energy to stay healthy and young. When we sleep less, it doesn’t reach its goal, and that’s why we wake up with old cells. Ah! But if we sleep too much, then we lose muscle and our skin sags. The most rejuvenating hours are: going to bed before 10:30 pm and waking up before 8:00 am.
Rule #4: Stress against youth. It is scientifically proven that one of the factors that ages us the most and causes countless diseases is excess stress. But it is in our own hands to reduce it. You can help yourself by taking an anti-stress supplement such as adaptogens. I recommend making a list of things that stress you out and crossing them off as you overcome them.
Rule #5: Practice joy, as it detoxifies you and as a result rejuvenates you! Joy is a habit and as such must be learned. The best way to learn it is by practicing it EVERY DAY, even if it’s just one hour to start. A super effective exercise for when you wake up feeling very aged is… to laugh out loud!!! Yes, the vivifying and rejuvenating action of laughter is very powerful.
Rule #6: Take care of your skin, because it largely determines whether you look young or old. Don’t think that with just a miracle cream you will see super results. Get a good treatment that includes cleansers, pH balancers, masks, specialized serums for each age and skin need, moisturizers and SPF.
Rule #7: Eat healthy: at least 3 fruits a day; 1 to 2 cups of vegetables daily; drink enough water; meats no larger than the palm of your hand (not counting fingers); bread, pasta or rice should be whole grain; reduce salt and sugar. Avoid drinking alcohol.
Rule #8: Include nutritional supplements. Even if we try to maintain a very balanced diet, it is always advisable to include supplements: multivitamins, cellular nutrients, calcium for bones, and if entering menopause, supplements to reduce its unpleasant and aging symptoms. Collagen tablets are a very effective supplement to avoid looking old.
Rule #9: Practice visualization exercises. Every morning and/or night with your eyes closed, feel how a greenish light covers you from head, neck, shoulders, arms, chest, legs, feet and hands, rejuvenating them, and you feel younger and healthier. Visualize yourself without wrinkles, with a firm and/or slim body. Finish by feeling grateful to God or the universe.
Rule #10: Never think you are old! You can have birthdays but not age. Cover your gray hair. Take care of your teeth, and on your birthday never think: «How old I’m getting,» and change that thought to: «I’m just turning (so many years).»
